a lookout tower
The magnificent neo-Gothic Observation Tower od Děd (CZ) is situated in the height of 492 metres above the sea level, near the district town of Beroun, approximately 40 kilometres west of Prague (45-minute drive).
This 12-metre high brick lookout tower is the very first one of its kind, which was built by the Czech Tourist Club (Klub českých turistů), and opened on 17th September 1893. It is accessible all over the year, but provides limited views to the north due to the surrounding vegetation. The tower´s 56 steps, together with some 200 metres of elevation are ideal for all lovers of nature and moderate-to-demanding hiking.
