Skryjská jezírka

a lake complex

Skryjská jezírka is a complex of two natural lakes situated in the Nature Reserve Jezirka (covering some 59 hectars) within the greater complex of the Nature Reserve of Krivoklat Highlands approximately 65 kilometres west of Prague (1-hour drive).

The upper lake is situated after a waterfall and surrounded by rocks (accessible from one side), whereas the lower lake is surrounded by trees. The area is full of unique flora and fauna, including ferns, kingfisher, crayfish, brook trout, etc. The whole area is a unique site of fossils and is an ideal natural stop for all lovers of nature and geology. The lakes are accessible along a hiking trail from the village of Skryje, approximately 3 kilometres away. Apart from the lakes, you can also visit a number of other places and sights around, e.g. the Monument to Joachim Barrande (a prominent French engineer and explorer, who specialized in fossils), the Zbiroh Chateau, the Krivoklat Castle (and the surrounding nature reserve) etc.
