former Nazi concentration camp
Flossenbürg is a small town of some 1.7 thousand inhabitants situated ⅔ of the journey from Prague to Nuremberg, i.e. approximately a 2.5-hour drive away from Prague, and 1.5-hour drive to Nuremberg in the north-eastern Bavaria, on the German part of the Czech-German border.
Flossenburg´s sad landmark is the former concentration camp built here during the Second World War, although the location can also offer other places of interest, including the castle ruins situated on top of the hill overlooking the town, which you can reach by walking the local panoramic trail along the prettiest parts of the local granite massifs area. We recommend to allow approximately 2 to 3 hours for your visit.
